In Darkness – Review
Written by Natalie Dormer and Anthony Byrne, In Darkness is a project that began way back in 2009 – that’s nine whole years in the making! The world has changed a mighty much since it’s conception to final piece. Natalie and Anthony both intended for Natalie to play a smaller role, not the lead role of Sofia. Natalie hadn’t had her global domination as of yet, however at that stage you would have seen her as Anne Boleyn on the The Tudors. When it eventually came to casting, Natalie was a credibl

From Up On Poppy Hill – Review
It is often the case that a creative piece can have expectations cast upon them, based on the results of its predecessors. When I watch a film or anime in general, I like to go with an open mind and no expectations; this allows you to enjoy the moment that much more, particularly when you strike the subtle gold of a beautifully touching story. And, with a studio such as Studio Ghibli behind From Up On Poppy Hill, the expectations are certainly set for most.

009 Re:Cyborg – Review
009 RE:CYBORG is the latest rework of the classic manga Cyborg 009, produced by Tokyo-based Production IG (Ghost in the Shell, Blood: The Last Vampire and the animated sequence from Kill Bill: Vol 1) and directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). The entire task force behind this film helped in giving it a fresh lease of life in this new era, updating the story, but with sly nods for original fans. The original Cyborg 009 was the brainchild of Shotaro
009 Re:Cyborg – Review
Some time ago I attended an intimate press screening at 20th Century Fox’s screening room in London’s Soho Square. Upon arrival, I grabbed a refreshment and decided to take a seat in the middle of the back-row. As a petite lady I wanted to ensure there were no obstructions between myself and my view of the screen, so I could fully appreciate what I was about to see. It was there that myself and probably most of the other attendees had our first 3D anime experience in the form of 009 RE:CYBORG. A

Dragon Ball Z Season 6 – Review
Manga Entertainment is once again allowing DBZ fans to continue their trip down memory lane with the release of Dragon Ball Z Complete Season 6, continuing where Season 5 left off. However, with this release, you will find that a large part of the series is dedicated to the build up towards the battle, pertaining to the hopeful destruction and defeat of the now Perfect Cell. And let me tell you this, he is very much like a cat with nine lives, certainly one tough cookie to crack. Offering our sk
Bleach: Hell Verse – Review

Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts – Review
As Valentine’s Day approaches, it only makes sense that this week’s release has some cute, heartwarming moments in there, plus plenty of parody and perverted school-boys with nose-bleeds.
Today brings us the release of the second series of Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts; a high school comedy, where teachers allow students to wage wars against other classes, with the help of a summoned avatar. If you haven’t previously watched the first instalment, then you will most likely find it a little d

Journey to Agartha – Review
Today sees the welcoming of a truly stunning addition to the anime world, on both DVD and Blu-ray. Journey to Agartha (Children Who Chase Lost Voices) is a story that will appeal to the masses. A beautifully simplistic narrative by Makoto Shinkai, who has previously been compared to Miyazaki.
The story follows a young girl named Asuna, who is both hard-working and adventurous. Asuna seems like an isolated child, having lost her father when she was younger and her mother is a nurse who has to wo

Bleach Series 10 Part 1 + Dragon Ball Z Series 5 – Review
Monday 14th January saw the release ofSeries 10 Part 1, the first half of the third instalment of the Arrancar Arc: Arrancar vs Shinigami, consisting of episodes 190-201. For those who aren’t too familiar with Bleach, or who need a brief recap (after all those fillers), seeming as Bleach does have a habit of running a few rings around the point, before finally reaching it, then let me give you a very brief background.

Shiki Part 2 – Review
It's finally 2013. Happy New Year fellow anime fans! Let's give a few final thoughts to 2012, with the very last day of 2012 seeing the release of the second instalment of Shiki, titled Shiki Part 2.
Shiki approaches the legend of the Okiagari (or ‘Shiki’, which means corpse demon) - bodies that have risen up and transformed into Vampires. All hell breaks loose in the village of Sotoba. The village’s Doctor soon becomes suspicious by what appears to be some kind of epidemic (or so the rest of
